About Sophia
Technique should never be divorced from the music itself. Most students focus too much on speed while ignoring the foundation of their hold. I utilize my 5 years of experience to ensure every student masters orchestral playing and music theory.

I sometimes struggle to explain how much I value the physical discipline required for string playing. My 5 years of experience include training at the Conservatoire de Montréal and holding a BMus degree. I work with advanced learners, returning students, and kids who have a deep desire for performance focused development. My instruction covers everything from left hand agility and shifting positions to complex tone production.
Teaching allows me to share the technical rigor I learned in Trois-Rivières with others. I help students refine their posture and hold so they can play for longer without fatigue. My background as a musician informs my focus on intonation and vibrato.
I provide a diagnostic assessment before setting the practice plan for your long term success. You can expect a calm and detail oriented environment during our time together
