About Tom
I am currently a college student at the University of Virginia. I love math and exploring various aspects of math with other students. While I have little formal tutoring experience, I have helped several family members and friends with Calculus and Precalculus and have experience with teaching kids of all ages mathematics.

Math can often be a difficult subject, with concepts that are not immediately intuitive to most people, myself included. I have found that sometimes teachers can breeze over the intuition for why a particular method, or theorem works, and it can appear as though the math involved is seemingly magical. I find that by helping people understand intuitively why the methods they are using work, it can help them solve more difficult problems that tend to cause them more trouble. Not only does this help students with learning the material and doing better in the class, but I found upon entering college that it can help unlock a greater level of appreciation for the beauty in math.
