About Luke
I’m a college sophomore with a strong academic background and a passion for helping students build confidence in challenging subjects. I scored a 1550 on the SAT, was named a National Merit Finalist, earned 5s on AP European History and AP English Literature, and received a 4 on AP Biology. I was also named to the President’s List during my first semester of college.
I tutor SAT Math and English, Algebra, Chemistry, writing, and introductory programming in Python. My approach focuses on clarity, adaptability, and understanding how each student learns best. Rather than relying on memorization alone, I help students develop problem-solving skills and strategies they can apply independently.
Outside the classroom, I’ve led several student organizations and spend much of my time programming and writing. I am currently developing a large multiplayer text-based game using Python and PostgreSQL, which has strengthened both my technical skills and my ability to break down complex systems into understandable parts. I also have experience with SQL and some C programming.
I’ve informally tutored and mentored younger students, including helping my siblings with academics over the years, and I enjoy making difficult material feel approachable and manageable. Whether a student is preparing for a major exam, improving classroom performance, or learning programming for the first time, I aim to create a supportive and engaging learning environment that encourages steady progress and confidence.

My teaching approach is focused on clarity, adaptability, and helping students build true understanding.
I tailor my explanations to each student’s learning style and pace, breaking down complex topics into simple, intuitive steps. I emphasize active problem-solving, asking guiding questions, and reinforcing concepts through practice.
A typical lesson begins with a quick check-in to identify current challenges or homework topics, followed by targeted instruction on the relevant concepts.
I then walk through example problems step-by-step, encouraging the student to attempt similar problems with guidance as needed. We finish by reviewing key takeaways and identifying areas to focus on before the next session.
