I got into teaching at first to supplement my income, but find I enjoy the work sometimes more than making art! It's been a pleasure to share my experience and knowledge, and make a point of teaching the students I have rather than a fixed curriculum. I focus on what they need to overcome hurdles and try to find ways that will help them best overcome hurdles. If they are willing to do the work, i'm fairly confident I can help anyone improve their art.
Professional cartoonist and Illustrator, with 5 years experience teaching art at a private college. I've also worked in Animation as a designer, as an art director for print, self published graphic novels, worked freelance for Marvel and DC comics, and more!
My travel rate is just for relatively shorter trips around downtown and immediately adjacent cities [NDG, Saint Laurent, Outramount, etc] Montreal, it covers metro fees. Anything langer would have to be discussed in advance.
Cancelation is free 48 hours in advance, after that there's a 33% fee.

I teach three regular courses at Syn, Dynamic Drawing, A intermediate drawing class targeting gesture drawing, design and refining all the skills required to generate truly dynamic art. Making Comics 101, and Intro to Cartooning, courses that focus on the narrative mechanics of comics art, and the drawing techniques native to cartooning respectively.
For all three courses I created the curriculums, and most of the course material myself. I'm pleased to brag my student survey ratings are consistently between 90 and 99%!
It was a bit of a surprise to me, but i've discovered I might just like teaching even more than freelancing as an artist! It brings me a lot of pleasure to help people discover a productive path in learning art. I thoroughly enjoy the challenges it presents and sharing my own experience.
And in addition to deepening my own understanding of my artistic process, I feel it's done wonders for my communication skills generally.
