About Rudra

My name is Rudra and thank you for considering me as your tutor!
Here's a little about me.

I am currently a first year medical student in Canada, and completed my high school education here as well. However, I was born in India and lived in Singapore for much of my childhood.

In my free time, I love to draw, exercise, check out new food places with friends, and go on hikes. I also love technology (MKBHD anyone?) and am always tinkering around with my computer.

As you will see on my profile, I have written a lot of exams (IB, SATs, MCAT, you name it) and I have learnt a lot from my experience. I have learnt techniques that work, but I have also had my fair share of experience with techniques that don't work. So, I see my experience as an opportunity for others and I can't wait to start working with students to get them going on their academic journey, wherever it takes them. Whether you want to score a high mark in high school to get into your dream university, or ace the MCAT to get into medical school, I can work with you and together as a team I believe we can make that happen.

Flexibility:
- I am open to most models of tutoring: targeted test prep (MCAT, SAT, etc.), homework help, conceptual learning, and many more.

Experience and qualifications:

Throughout high school, I received numerous academic awards, and scored the highest average in Grade 10. I completed IB in high school with a 96% average at the end of Grade 12. I also scored 1560 (100th percentile) on the SATs, and 521 (99th percentile) on the MCAT. I recently completed my Honours bachelors degree with with distinction. Needless to say, I have written a lot of exams in the past few years. The study techniques I used to perform well on these tests are not complicated, they just have to be followed with consistency and perseverance. I see school and academic learning as a tool to develop these soft skills, in addition to all the things that we learn in school itself. I cannot wait to work with students to impart some of the things I have learnt from my journey and hopefully inspire them to share it with others down the road. :)

Methodology:
- I believe in active learning as the most effective learning technique, and I will use a student-centric approach to help every student develop it and enhance their education.
- I will begin with a brief meeting with student/parent to discuss goals so that I can tailor my tutoring service to every student.

Lesson plan: the RTTF approach
- "R"ecap (from previous week/month)
- "T"esting current understanding (through practice questions and worked examples) to uncover weak points.
- "T"argeted teaching (based on weak points).
- "F"uture plan (a way of assessing performance until we meet for the next session)

Note: I am flexible to adapting this lesson plan based on students'/parents' request.

I am open to tutoring:
- High school math, biology, chemistry, physics.
- University level biology, biochemistry, physiology, immunology.
- MCAT (CARS, B/B, C/P, P/S)
- SAT (subject tests welcome)
