About Ejumevwo Kelvin

Expert Math Tutoring: 14+ Years Experience | MSc Applied Mathematics

Are you struggling with mathematics, feeling overwhelmed by complex formulas, or convinced you are "just not a math person"? My goal is to change that. I help students eliminate math anxiety, master core concepts, boost their grades, and develop the sharp problem-solving skills needed for long-term academic success.

I am Kelvin, a professional Mathematics tutor with over 14 years of teaching experience, an MSc in Applied Mathematics, and a BSc in Physics. As a current International School Mathematics teacher, I have a deep, up-to-date understanding of global curricula and exam requirements.

I specialize in targeted exam preparation and curriculum support for students worldwide, including Canada, the US, the UK, Australia, the UAE, and Nigeria. Whether you need to bridge gaps from the school year or get ahead, I provide expert preparation for:

North American Curricula: AP Calculus (AB/BC), SAT Math, ACT Math, Pre-Calculus, and High School Algebra.

International & British Curricula: IB Mathematics (SL/HL), A-Level Mathematics, IGCSE / GCSE Math, and Key Stage 3.

Graduate Admissions: GRE Quantitative Reasoning.

My Teaching Approach: Conceptual Understanding Over Memorization.
Math isn’t about memorizing shortcuts to pass a test; it’s about building a logical framework. Instead of simply showing you how to solve a problem, I teach you why the method works. This intuitive, step-by-step approach empowers you to tackle unfamiliar exam questions independently and walk into your test room with total confidence.

Why Parents & Students Choose Me:
Top Academic Credentials: My MSc in Applied Mathematics and BSc in Physics provide me with the deep subject knowledge required to break down complex calculus, algebra, and geometry into simple, digestible steps.

Proven Track Record: 14+ years of driving measurable results—my students consistently improve their school grades, boost their standardized test scores, and gain lasting confidence.

International Curricula Expert: Active classroom experience means I know exactly what examiners look for in IB, AP, and A-Level marking schemes.

Personalized & Patient Environment: Lessons are completely tailored to your unique pace and goals. My virtual classroom is a supportive space where making mistakes is viewed as a vital part of the learning process.

My Teaching Methodology

I structure my lessons to be well-organized, engaging, and tailored to each student’s needs. Before lessons, I assess the student’s current understanding, learning style, and goals, then plan sessions with clear objectives and a logical progression. Each lesson begins with a brief recap to reinforce prior knowledge, followed by an explanation of new content using simple language, examples, and visual aids where appropriate. I include regular questioning and practice to check understanding and keep students actively involved.

To help students achieve their goals, I break complex topics into manageable steps and link new material to what they already know. I adapt my pace and approach depending on the student, offering extra support where needed and gradually encouraging independence and confidence. I also provide exam-focused strategies when relevant, such as how to approach questions or avoid common mistakes.

Progress is measured through ongoing questioning, short tasks, and review of homework or practice questions, allowing me to identify strengths and areas for improvement. I believe encouragement, patience, and clear feedback are essential for learning, as students learn best when they feel supported, motivated, and confident to ask questions.

My lessons are interactive, engaging, and designed to build lasting mathematical confidence.

  • When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?

I have had an innate passion for mathematics from my primary school days. I was always in the lead in my class and received the best mathematics student award. I organized free maths tutorial classes for my classmates struggling with maths in secondary school. I continued helping students who needed support in maths as an undergraduate student and started getting favors from them in appreciation for helping them. The kind favor I received now serves as great motivation for me to continue doing the good work of assisting anyone struggling with mathematics.
  • What makes you passionate about your subject?

I want to see students who once struggled with mathematics become masters. I want them to see maths as a lovable subject. I want them to be well prepared to succeed in math effortlessly by understanding the underlying concepts.
  • What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?

What I like about tutoring is seeing my tutees with a clear understanding of concepts that once looked opaque to them in maths. I have helped 100% of my students succeed in maths. That makes me a Superprof.
  • What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?

One of my mathematics lecturers during my undergraduate studies was a great inspiration. He practically made mathematics fun for me. His classes were never boring for once, and I never studied so hard to pass his courses because his lectures were crystal clear. He automatically became my role model as I fell in love with teaching.
  • What are your keys to success?

The keys to my success include but are not limited to these: patience, passion, strong interpersonal relationships, good communication, punctuality, respect for others, quick understanding, etc.
