About Miles

I am 25, based in Bethnal Green, and in my final year of study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama studying jazz piano. I have been teaching for 2 years now with private students and find that it's both something comes quite naturally to me and very much enjoy.

My musical journey started when I was six and I began getting lessons in classical piano. By 16 i had achieved a distinction in Grade 8 Classical piano, and had started to become interested in jazz. I've also had a lifelong interest in songwriting, which is an aspect of my musical life that I nurture in parallel with working as a jazz and pop pianist.

As a free lance musician I gig frequently around London, most prominently as the house pianist and band leader of the "Sunday Sessions" jazz night at the Old Blue Last in Shorditch. I've also been taking on weddings and corporate party gigs for several years now.

About the lesson

I believe in a flexible approach to teaching, to fit the goals of the student. Being both classically trained, and a working pop and jazz pianist, my skillset allows me to create a tailored programme of work for each student. I have 4 years of teaching experience, and have taught a range of types of lessons, including grade 8 standard classical piano, guiding a student through the process of learning to improvise versions of their favourite songs on piano and teaching a student the basics of boogie-woogie!

My lessons are for all ages and skill sets, and I have a broad range of experience with both spectrums! My lessons are typically 1 hour, and cost 50£ a session.

Perfect! Miles is extremely knowledgeable and fast witted on the piano. I contacted him. He was quick to reply and we had the first session within two days booked. I’m a beginner with around one year experience and he brought me up to speed in the first hour quite significantly and I decided to keep regular sessions with him. I can 100% recommend miles he plays piano in his jazz band and just finished his music degree so perfect for anybody who wants to get into jazz rock pop blues Piano and he also has a classical education.
