About Gabriela

I am originally from Alajuela, Costa Rica. I came to the U.S. in 2015 to go to Earlham College and graduated in 2019 with a B.A. in Human Development and Social Relations with a focus on Social Institutions. While a student at Earlham, I was a Spanish Tutor for 4 years and a Spanish TA my last 2 years of college. I really enjoyed teaching my native language to new students and seeing them learn, grow, and improve their Spanish skills!

About the lesson

For teaching, I like to first assess the best way for the student to learn: visual aids, hearing, speaking, etc. Once I have an idea of what helps them learn, I adapt to their learning style and look for ways to find activities that match their needs. I also like to help students learn not only Spanish, but I also like to teach them about the Latin American culture since I am a Latin American myself. Spanish Music, vocabulary games, movies, short films in Spanish are among some of the teaching techniques I like to implement. I am also happy to help students complete their assignments and go over some basic grammar.
