About Koey

I am a TESL certified ESL teacher with a Master degree in Teaching ESL and I have experience in exam preparations including IELTS and other Cambridge exams. I coach students to college and prepare new comers with language exams for immigration purpose. I can help you with speaking and listening skills, pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary and essay writing.

About the lesson

I believe that teachers and students have to work together in order to create a successful class. With that in mind, I take on a role similar to a coach in that I cheer on students and assist them in their journey of achieving their goals, such as speaking with fluency or passing an exam for college.

I firmly believe that simply being a native speaker is not enough to make one a qualified English teacher. A teacher has to know the subject inside and out before one could help students learn it. In my class, I strive to find a balance between exam skills and actual language use. Once students have a solid foundation to the language, success in examinations would fall in place.

I also encourage students to shift from their traditional roles as passive learners to a more involved role as active participants. I design hands-on activities that will allow students to contribute to their learning process. However, I leave them with the choice to whether or not to do so.
