About Devin

My passion for teaching extends beyond just my 3 years of tutoring languages, as I have taught competitive dance for nearly 5 years, and mentored various other extracurriculars in performing arts, artistry, and school clubs. I have always loved people, and my extroversion is what brought me to find a love for language and communication.

I have tutored in the English and Spanish language for over 200 hours, mostly volunteer work, and received the Saint Francis Service Award in my junior year of high school for extraordinary commitment to volunteer work (over 100 hours in a single academic year). My commitment to service eventually brought me into the position of co-president of an international tutoring organization accesible through zoom, with a focus on assisting underprivileged Spanish speakers in South American countries on their journey with learning English

Beyond teaching, I love to stay up late and enjoy some alone time in the later hours of the day, I like matcha, and I absolutely love to shop. I hope reading this has showed you a bit more of who I am, and if I seem right for you, I would love to meet and get to working together soon!

About the lesson

Relaxed, personalized, and engaging lessons.

Length of lessons are up to each student, however I have found the sweet spot to be between 45 and 55 minutes a session. I love to keep the sessions as applicable to real life scenarios as possible, implementing skills that can be used in a real world setting instead of what is just taught in schools (strictly vocabulary, verb conjugation memorization only, etc). My methodology revolves around using the science behind habits to engrain the language into your daily life, which accelerates the progress and efficacy of our sessions together and allows for a much smoother spontaneous use of the language.

I have tutored Spanish speakers in English and English speakers in Spanish for 3 years, however I have studied the Spanish language for over a decade including a one-month homestay (Spanish only) in Spain when I was a kid, and more recently receiving a 5 on the AP Spanish Language and Culture exam, and a 4 on AP Spanish Literature and Culture. My lessons are intended for older teens and adults, as my teaching experience has remained mostly in this age range. Looking forward to meeting you!
