About Risa
Hello! My name is Risa Isobe, and I am a first-year university student studying Medical Science in Sydney. I'm from Japan, but I have been in an international school for my whole life. I have done IB in high school, so I can teach you IB Chemistry and Biology.
I believe that the "fun" in learning comes when the concept clicks. What drives me to study is the want to understand and internalize what I learned, because I know the joy and accomplishment it brings me when I do so. And I'd like to try and transfer that to you too!
We'll go over concepts, but I'd like to build from fundamentals so that you have a solid basis to build on more complex concepts. And NEVER HESITATE TO ASK QUESTIONS! Questions are the key to your success. As people say, there are no dumb questions, and we'll go over everything one by one to really ensure you understand!

I value understanding in learning. Yes, exams and marks are important, but just memorizing to get those numbers doesn't work in the long run. I would not only teach concepts but ask the student why it may be, so that the students can figure out the "reason" behind the materials. When those dots are connected, information becomes solid and can be retained for a longer period of time. I also might make time at the start of the lesson to ask the student to briefly explain what we learned in the previous week, as this maximizes content retention.
I have no prior experience in teaching, but I loved teaching my friends during high school when they asked me a question. It not only helped them, but I realized that it was also beneficial to me in understanding the concept.
