About Anya
I’m a musician from Shetland, currently studying at the Royal Conservatoire, with a deep passion for both performing and teaching. Having achieved Advanced Higher Music and a Grade 8 Distinction in fiddle, I have developed a strong foundation in both classical and traditional music. Growing up in Shetland, I was immersed in the rich fiddle tradition from an early age, which has shaped my playing style and appreciation for music. Teaching is something I love because it allows me to share this passion, helping others develop their skills and confidence while fostering a deeper connection to music. Whether it’s guiding a student through their first notes on the violin, preparing them for exams, or exploring the energy of traditional fiddle music, I aim to make lessons both enjoyable and inspiring.

In my lessons, I provide a well-rounded and engaging approach to music education, tailored to suit each student’s needs and goals. I offer music theory instruction to help students prepare for exams, ensuring they build a strong foundation in reading, writing, and understanding music. For instrumentalists, I teach beginner violin with a focus on technique, tone production, and confidence in playing. I also specialise in traditional piano accompaniment, guiding students in developing the skills needed to support melodies and other musicians effectively. Additionally, I teach traditional fiddle music from beginner to advanced levels, helping students explore and master the expressive and energetic style of folk and traditional tunes.
