About Lucy

I am a passionate student who just loves all things maths and hope to inspire you the same way! I fully believe that everyone is capable of doing maths at any level, they just need the right explaination and guidence. I ensure that all my students are able to gain a full understanding of not just how to do maths, but why they are doing math and how to think when approaching maths problems. When trying to understand a new topic I will always take the time to ensure that my students are understanding what I am talking about, and explain things in different ways if the first explaination doesn't quite work for the student.

About the lesson

Subject level: All levels of maths from primary to high school (including HSC 4 unit maths or equivalent)

Teaching method: I am dedicated to improving a student's depth of understanding of a math topic so that they are able to apply those techniques to their future studies. I am a firm believer that everyone has the ability to exceed in math; they only need the right explanation. I hope to improve my students relationship with math, as often half the battle is getting over the dread of doing it, and get students excited about this amazing subject.

Recommended session length: 1hr for the benefit of the student (tutoring sessions require a decent amount of focus and much longer can be detrimental to learning), however, I am happy to do up to 3. Once or twice a week seems to be the best balance but I can be available for emergency/extra sessions in case of upcoming exams or assignments.

Previous experience: I spent a year and a half in years 11 and 12 tutoring in my local area, with two primary school-aged students and one year 10 student, as well as regularly helping my sister, neighbours kids, and classmates. (Some experience with IB diploma Maths AA HL)
