About Alexander

I have moved around tirelessly to acquire languages! I have lived in France, Spain, Portugal, England, Belgium and Switzerland. As a result I speak French, Spanish and English fluently, but my Portuguese and Dutch is terrible, although I still try!

About the lesson

My approach is tailored to each student's needs, goals and learning style. As a current Head of Languages and experienced classroom teacher, I focus on making lessons engaging, structured and purposeful. I combine clear explanations with plenty of active practice, including speaking, listening, reading and writing, while placing particular emphasis on exam technique and building students' confidence. For IB and GCSE students, I am particularly focused on helping students understand exactly what is expected of them and how to maximise their marks.

Lessons are typically 60 minutes, although I can offer longer sessions where appropriate, particularly for intensive exam preparation.

I am a qualified languages teacher and currently work as a Head of Languages in an IB World School in London. I have extensive classroom teaching experience across different ages and abilities, including IB, GCSE and A-level students. I have experience preparing students for examinations, as well as conducting assessments, and helping students make significant progress in both their confidence and attainment. My experience as a Head of Department also means I have a detailed understanding of curriculum requirements, planning, assessment and effective language-learning strategies.

I primarily work with secondary-school students and sixth-form students, particularly those studying IB, GCSE or A-level languages. I can support students who are struggling and need to build confidence, as well as high-achieving students who want to push towards the very highest grades. I am particularly well suited to students looking for an experienced teacher who understands both the curriculum and the demands of language examinations.
