About Tom
I am a diploma-qualified trumpet player and former 5-year music scholar with 12 years of playing experience across classical, orchestral, and brass band settings.
While I am equipped to teach students of all levels, my specific focus is on building flawless fundamentals for beginners and primary-aged children.
Drawing on my background as a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant at Nigel Bowes Academy, I know how to create a patient, engaging, and highly supportive environment for younger learners. I hold a fully Enhanced DBS check.
I was trained extensively by one of the UK's most respected trumpet educators. My goal is to pass down this elite, proven system of technical exercises so that beginners build the right habits from day one, avoiding the common pitfalls that hold young players back.
As a first-year undergraduate at Cardiff University, I take a highly analytical approach to breaking down musical challenges into fun, simple, and solvable steps for kids.

Comprehensive Musicianship: Alongside trumpet technique, I integrate sight-reading, sight-singing, and basic music theory to ensure younger students develop a complete musical toolkit.
