About Katelynn
"Have you ever wondered how to play by ear rather than relying solely on the written page? My path began by absorbing melodies through listening, a foundation I carried through my BM Music Performance degree at Belmont University. Over 11 years, I have worked with performance-focused students, returning learners, and hobbyists.
I guide them to internalize rhythm and phrasing naturally. My teaching remains rooted in oral tradition where ornamentation is learned by imitation.
I help students develop essential skills like intonation, shifting positions, and tone production. We work on bowing technique, vibrato, and both spiccato and staccato bowing.
I really love the process of watching a student find their unique voice. My background includes orchestral playing and music theory, which I use to strengthen your posture and hold. Tuning by ear is a staple in my studio. It is a joy to share this musical journey with you."
