About Jack
I have three years of part-time tutoring experience, and three months of full-time experience, to students of all abilities from ages 6 to 20. During this time I have helped over 30 students boost their grades.
"Jack has proven himself to be capable, reliable and conscientious. Through his planned lessons and attention to detail, he has not only improved my daughter’s understanding in Physics & Chemistry but, more importantly, also increased her passion and enthusiasm too. Outside of lessons, he has been responsive and made himself available when she has needed his advice or input. With Jack’s assistance and support, my daughter gained an A & A* in her Physics & Chemistry GCSEs. I highly recommend Jack and will certainly be utilising his talent in tutoring my children in the future." - Previous tutee

Hi! Last year I graduated from the University of Cambridge with a double first class BA in Physical Natural Sciences and I am now a full-time tutor in Maths, Physics and Chemistry. I have three years of part-time tutoring experience to students of all abilities from ages 6 to 20.
I offer tutoring in:
- Chemistry (up to A-level)
- Maths (up to 1st year university)
- Physics (up to 2nd year university)
- Oxbridge interview preparation
My teaching methods are flexible, and I will tailor them to the student. However, I find that going through the syllabus and ensuring that the student has a good understanding of everything is a good place to start. I can then move on to practice questions, past papers, and exam technique.
Although my approach to teaching is quite systematic, with good exam results being the ultimate goal, I also find that appreciating why science is relevant to the real world helps motivate students and boosts their confidence. I therefore like to help my students understand *why* it is important to learn this stuff.
I am available during the day and evenings, seven days a week.
I teach in Kew, Richmond and all surrounding areas.

Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the tutor.
I worked with and observed Jack plan and deliver a fantastic set of Science and Maths lessons for students sitting their 11+ Common Entrance exams. He is a passionate, confident, and caring tutor, with a very strong educational history, allowing him to create the perfect environment for maximising each student's learning potential.
Jack Lawson has been an exceptionally brilliant science tutor to our three boys, preparing our
eldest (currently year 8) for the Eton Kings Scholarship exams and with our twins (currently year
6) in preparation for their science common entrance exams to come in year 8.
He has been absolutely brilliant with all 3 of our children, who have varying abilities and
personalities (with one of our twins also having special educational needs). Our boys all hugely
look forward to his lessons and he has been very effective at knowing how to tailor teaching
style and lesson content towards each child’s ability and learning targets. He is incredibly
patient and encouraging too which along with being such an effective tutor has been immensely
important in helping our eldest son in particular prepare mentally and emotionally for what are
notoriously tough and competitive scholarship exams.
We can’t recommend him more highly and we want to thank him enormously for all the work he
has done and continues to do with our children.View more recommendations
