About Dicky

Hello there, my name is Dicky. With my PhD in Architecture, I explored how design can be a powerful tool to facilitate social change. This has led me to believe that drawing, seen as a process rather than just a final product, holds much more potential than most people realize.

With that belief, I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to tutor beginners who may feel unsure about their drawing abilities. If you’re on the journey to discover whether drawing is your passion, I’d love to be the right tutor to guide you!

Drawing everyday objects brings me joy - finding beauty and interest in the simple things around me, from body parts, furniture, and buildings to urban settings. This personal exploration enriches my work in teaching drawing.

I’m not here to 'teach' you but to ‘work alongside you’.

About the lesson

While many people (could be you) become self-conscious about their artistic abilities, they often feel discouraged from exploring their artistic interests. That’s why I focus on making the creative process itself engaging and meaningful rather than just aiming for a “perfect” final product.

I believe that every drawing tells a story - not just of what we see, but of how we see it and what it means to us. I will encourage you to reflect on your artistic choices, such as (but not limited to): Why do you choose that perspective? What feelings are you trying to capture? What challenges do you face and overcome?

By emphasising exploration, self-expression, and reflection over technical perfection, I will help you build creative confidence. You will learn there’s no “wrong way” to draw - each person’s unique interpretation is valid and valuable. This approach helps foster lifelong creativity and artistic expression, teaching you to trust your creative instincts.

The goal is to help you develop not just drawing skills but also creative thinking, self-awareness, and the confidence to express yourself authentically through drawing. When you feel secure in your creative process, regardless of the outcome, you're more likely to keep exploring, experimenting, and growing as artists and individuals.

You can connect online or in person for 1 hour each week! Feel free to keep it going as long as you like, and you can pause or stop whenever it suits you.
