Teaching class on driving focused on three core themes: practical driving skills, self-confidence, and road awareness, all of which are essential for becoming a safe and competent driver.
The driving section covered key fundamentals such as vehicle control, mirror checks, speed management, and smooth steering and braking. Learners were encouraged to practise consistent routines, particularly the “MSM” (Mirror–Signal–Manoeuvre) approach, to build safe habits that become automatic over time.
A significant part of the session centred on self-confidence behind the wheel. Students discussed how nerves and self-doubt can affect decision-making, especially in busy or unfamiliar driving environments. Techniques such as gradual exposure to more complex roads, positive self-talk, and reflecting on progress were introduced to help build assurance and reduce anxiety while driving.
The awareness component focused on developing strong observation skills and hazard perception. Learners were trained to anticipate the actions of other road users, identify potential risks early, and maintain situational awareness at all times. This included understanding blind spots, reading traffic flow, and adjusting driving style according to weather and road conditions.
Overall, the class aimed to build not only technical driving ability but also the mindset required for safe, confident, and responsible driving in real-world conditions.
