About Zola
Hello my name is Zola Zikalala also known as Teacher Zola! I am TEFL certified, I have a BA Degree and Honours qualification in Motion Picture Production. I am currently studying a Bachelor's of Business Administration degree and I have been in the beauty and entertainment industry for over 5 years.
In my past careers and volunteer work, I’ve managed a classroom of 4 to over 40 people. I’ve taught over 1000 classes in the past year as an English language consultant. Working in different creative industries made me realise how privileged I was to obtain a qualification that put me in those spaces, so I decided to volunteer at a Non-Profit Organisation in Kwa-Zulu Natal and I helped over 40 young women learn how to start a business or a career in beauty.
I taught them about cosmetology, various beauty career paths and important skills needed to never go hungry in this economy. I also worked as a data administrator for a training programme under South African Youth Empowerment and for the various courses offered to underprivileged people such as English, Vocational studies and more.
Volunteering my time is where I truly fell in love with teaching. After that I got my TEFL certificate and started teaching English online to wonderful people around the world!

My teaching style is student-centred, practical, encouraging, and interactive. I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable, confident, and actively involved. I adapt each lesson to the student’s level, goals, personality, and learning style rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. What makes me unique is my combination of English teaching, creativity, beauty, and practical communication skills, allowing me to make lessons engaging and relevant to real-life situations.
I am proficient in English and can teach English communication, conversation, vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and everyday language skills. I also teach makeup and beauty, combining demonstrations, guided practice, creative techniques, and personalised feedback to help students develop both their skills and confidence.
A typical English lesson with me includes conversation, practical examples, vocabulary development, pronunciation practice, corrections, and activities based on real-life situations. Students can expect a relaxed environment where they are encouraged to speak, ask questions, make mistakes, and improve naturally. In makeup and beauty lessons, students can expect step-by-step demonstrations, practical techniques, personalised guidance, and opportunities to practise what they have learned.
My lessons are suitable for beginner to advanced English learners, including students who want to improve their speaking confidence, pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, workplace communication, or conversational English.
