About Coen

I have been working as a teacher for the last 5 years and have an extensive experience studying and working abroad. After obtaining my master Policial Science I lived in Pakistan for one year where I teached English and helps building a new secondary school. Back in The Netherlands I helped students passing their civic integration exam and I coached expats improving their writing and speaking skills. Currently I am working at an Dutch highschool where I teach Citizenship and guide my students trough their high school career and preparing them for their further education

About the lesson

My lessons are structured around the individual needs of the student. I observe and listen and fit my lesson plans to what the students is capable of and what they are aiming for. I believe in interaction, variation, I guarantee that my lessons are challenging and fun. At the moment I am also finishing my teaching degree at the VU which means my methodology is scientific driven and up to date. It's possible to book private lessons or in groups with a maximum of 5 persons. As an person I am friendly and I explain in a clear and patient way. I often get the feedback that I make my students feel comfortable when they are starting to talk in Dutch. I know, because i did it mysef, that starting again in a new city can be challenging somethimes. But when you succeed it will be really rewarding and fun! I also know a lot of Dutch history, politics and culture and I love to share this with people who are new in this city.

Perfect! Super happy so far. Coen is easy to work with, has a nice balance of new vocabulary, grammar, and practice, also really good at matching the teaching pace to my learning pace! Great teacher!

So far so good! In the beginning I noticed Kate was higly motivated and eager tostart. Last wednesday was our second class. She was sharp the full two hours, thinking a few steps ahead and she did her homework. Making more Dutch conversation in real life and she will learn even quicker!

Excellent! A group of Mexican friends came over for a semester and were searching for a Dutch teacher or a language school. I knew Coen so I recommended him. Quite quickly already I noticed progress and I was impressed with their conversation skills. Coen is a great teacher and also a nice person. I would surely recommend him to anyone!

Coen heeft mijn zoon Nederlandse les gegeven met heel veel geduld en aandacht.
Een vriendin van mij raadde hem aan.
Hij heeft les gegeven met boeken uit de klas ( Havo) van mijn zoon en eigen materiaal. Hij is ook super grappig wat heel belangrijk is als het even tegenzit. Kortom een Superprof.

Coen was my teacher for a couple of months and believe me he really loves to teach and he's doing it good. He's always fun and he explains things in a calm and friendly way and he makes sure you fully understand everything. He is a great coach to help you learn Dutch fast!

Coen is a great teacher! Some friends of mine, from the USA, lived and worked here for a couple of years and wanted to learn some Dutch. I already knew Coen for quite some time and of course I gave them his contact details! Sometimes I joined their lessons as well. Coen is patient, can be fun and explain things in a clear way. His lessons are taylor made based on the needs and wishes of the students. He puts a lot of initiative and thought into the lessons which are always stimulating and fun. He's a nice guy and I strongly recommend him as a teacher.
