About Sarah
Hi, I'm Sarah! I am a passionate educator-in-training with a Bachelor of Arts degree and plans to begin my teacher education program. I believe that the best learning happens when students feel supported, engaged, and excited about what they are learning.
Before pursuing a career in education, I spent 15 years working in the banking and finance industry, where I held a variety of roles, including financial advisor, loans manager, and customer service specialist. This experience provided me with a strong foundation in financial literacy, communication, problem-solving, and helping individuals build confidence in their abilities.
I enjoy teaching a variety of subjects, including mathematics, language arts, social studies, study skills, and financial literacy. My teaching philosophy is centered around creating a positive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, taking risks, and developing a lifelong love of learning.
As both a lifelong learner and future educator, I am committed to helping each student reach their full potential while making learning fun, engaging, and meaningful.

My approach to tutoring is based on the belief that students learn best when they feel confident, supported, and genuinely engaged in what they are learning. I strive to create a positive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and developing a love of learning.
I use a student-centered teaching approach, tailoring each lesson to the individual learner's needs, interests, and learning style. I incorporate a variety of teaching techniques, including hands-on activities, games, visual supports, real-world examples, and guided practice to ensure students remain engaged and build confidence alongside academic skills.
A typical lesson begins with a brief review of previous concepts, followed by the introduction of new material through interactive activities and examples. Students then have opportunities to practice independently with support and feedback, and each lesson concludes with a summary of key concepts and a discussion of next steps.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my combination of educational training and 15 years of professional experience in banking and finance, including roles as a financial advisor, loans manager, and customer service specialist. This background allows me to provide practical, real-world financial literacy education while also supporting students in developing strong academic skills, critical thinking abilities, and confidence.
My lessons are designed primarily for elementary-aged students and can include support in mathematics, language arts, social studies, study skills, confidence building, and introductory financial literacy. My goal is not only to help students succeed academically but also to foster curiosity, independence, and a lifelong love of learning.
