About Houda
My name is Houda, and I am a fourth-year student in Concordia’s Early Childhood and Elementary Education program. I worked at a wonderful tutoring center for over 3 years, where I taught learners aged 4 to 12 how to problem-solve. I also volunteer as a social media manager for the Syrian Kids Foundation, a Montreal-based organization that aims to provide free education for Syrian refugees in Turkey. Indeed, Al Salam School is completely free for learners thanks to the generous donations from the Syrian Kids Foundation’s supporters. I have been practicing martial arts for over 15 years, where I also had the chance to work with children by assisting coaches. I have seen children grow in confidence in their bodies, and observed how this applies to other areas, such as social and academic skills. Teaching has been my passion for a very long time. Having had my own difficulties in school, my empathy and understanding of students’ struggles and successes enable me to help learners effectively and adjust to their needs. Throughout the years, I have met a variety of learners, which has helped me understand how people grasp concepts differently. I developed my teaching skills by explaining the same concepts in various ways according to each student’s needs. Additionally, I have improved my understanding of students' ways of thinking; through my experience with many learners, I have become adept at identifying common misunderstandings, making it easier for me to spot and clarify concepts early on. Overall, I am motivated and excited to continue learning and growing with my students. It would be my pleasure to meet you!
