About Rosie
Hello! My name is Rosie, and I’m looking to tutor primary-age children in a variety of subjects, particularly maths, phonics and literacy, science, humanities and French. As a neurodivergent person myself, I have a particular interest in supporting children with additional needs including autism, ADHD, dyslexia and dyscalculia. I have an undergraduate degree from Cambridge in Education with Medieval French (yes, really!), an MA from UCL in Special and Inclusive Education and an MSc in Psychology from the University of Roehampton (distance learning). I work as a teaching assistant with a particular focus on those with additional needs and/or English as an additional language.
I always try to incorporate a child’s hobbies and interests into my teaching, as this engages them in their learning and provides a sense of ownership over their work. I also like to use hands-on activities such as games or arts and crafts, and have a wide range of maths manipulatives should you wish to meet in-person.
My teaching style is friendly and encouraging, and I believe that helping children to identify their strengths is just as important as helping them to improve the things they find challenging.

Every child is unique and so no two lessons will look the same. I typically try to work with the maths curriculum used by the child’s school so that I am teaching in line with what they are learning at school.
Before delving in to more complex mathematical learning, it is crucial to ensure that the main ‘building blocks’ are there. This will often involve supporting children to understand the concept of place value, using manipulative resources where appropriate, and exploring how this relates to mathematical operations such as adding and subtracting.
I also enjoy working with children who need extension activities to challenge their logic and reasoning skills by solving puzzles and helping them to explore how mathematics can be applied to real-world situations.
