About Shirley
I am a fine arts teacher with a Bachelor Degree in Art Drama and English. I am retired and for the past three years I have been tutoring English. I am an artist and I paint, illustrate and presently I am taking an animation program to learn how to cartoon and animate films and commercials

My teaching method is student oriented where I teach in ways that I find relevant to the child and therefore allows them to begin making decisions around their learning. I like to have a warm up which may be a review from the last lesson, an intro into today's lesson. I then set out today's goals i.e read for 20 minutes then write for 10 minutes and close with home assignment. During the reading I take turns with the students reading so everyone has to read and we all have to listen. I ask questions as we read. My usual writing assignments start with a short bio of the author, then a review of what was read, predictions, setting, and depending on age how the material can relate to them
