About Cameron
I LOVE MATH. There, I said it. Why? You might ask? Because it is challenging. As someone who has taken high school math not too long ago and is currently pursuing a career in Engineering, I know the challenge that comes with understanding mathematical concepts. My hope is that, through careful monitoring and step-by-step breakdowns I can extend some of this appreciation and understanding of math to others who may be struggling.

As a student myself, I know I NEED to learn in a way that is specific to me. This can often make learning in a class setting a lot more difficult.
Additionally, I find there is often a disconnect between students and their instructors in subjects like these simply because the instructor has forgotten what it was like learning these concepts for the first time.
After tutoring in math for 4 years, I've found it very common that students the I work with only struggle to learn concepts because they are not being taught in a way that works for them.
With this in mind, I devised a teaching style that I find works best for me and my students:
+ Establishing the Strengths/Weaknesses of the student early
+ Making complex concepts more intuitive (this may sound obvious, but a lot of concepts in math can be abstract, leading students to simply 'memorize' content without truly understanding it)
+ Ensuring constant understanding of material along the way (a lack of understanding in one subsection of math tends to effect learning in other subsections)
+ Encouraging two-way communication (my approach to solving problems will not always work best for the student and should be constantly tailored to better fit the student's learning preferences)
+ Improving the student's understanding of practice problems given in class (this involves the student being prepared to bring textbooks, notes, and other course-relevant materials to sessions)
+ Examining the student's course instructor's expectations (and teaching with these expectations in mind)
+ Recommending supplemental learning resources (ie: YouTube videos, learning websites, math forums, etc) for viewing after sessions
+ Responding to any and all inquiries outside of sessions (in a timely manner; I encourage students to reach out with questions they may have between sessions)
