About Shiva

I am an English and Philosophy Graduate and a language teacher. I have worked for three years at a primary school and two years at a secondary school as a substitute teacher. Two years ago, I moved to London to work as a German language assistant at Howard of Effingham High School. What truly excites me is the diverse range of students I have had the privilege to work with. I have extensive experience teaching both children and adults, particularly in the field of English as a foreign language. My approach is to foster a supportive and encouraging environment where you can feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and growing as a language learner. Whether you're a non-native speaker looking to improve your fluency and your conversational skills or a student seeking guidance for your GCSEs, I've got you covered. Together, we will tackle challenges, build confidence, and celebrate your progress.

About the lesson

I understand that everyone learns at their own pace, so our first step is to assess your current abilities in speaking, listening, writing, and reading. Here's a glimpse of what our lessons might include: 1. Speaking classes: We will focus on improving your conversational skills, grammar and vocabulary exercises 2. Reading and listening classes: These sessions will strengthen your comprehension skills. 3. Writing classes: We will dedicate time to refining your writing skills, paying attention to grammar, spelling, and overall clarity. Through targeted exercises and constructive feedback, you'll become a more proficient writer. 4. Translations: I can help you develop your translation skills, providing guidance and tips to ensure accurate and fluent translations between English and German. 5. Exam preparation: Whether you're preparing for GCSEs, A-Levels, we will work on strategies to maximise your performance. 6. Finishing assignments and homework: If you have assignments or homework related to your English studies, I will guide you through them, offering explanations, corrections, and suggestions for improvement.
