About the lesson

My teaching is aimed at undergraduate and postgraduate students studying English Language and Linguistics, or Literary Linguistics. Before our first meeting, I like to learn about the course you are on (methodological frameworks, rubric, etc.) in order to ensure that our sessions are as valuable as possible for your particular needs.

I provide constructive criticism of written work, as well as general discussions on the topic. If necessary, and with enough time, I can also put together additional exercises to help you out with particularly tricky ideas. I will not write essays for you.

About Matthew

I am a PhD candidate in English Language and Linguistics at the University of Sheffield, currently awaiting my viva. I have been a student at Sheffield since I began my undergraduate degree in 2010. I have tutored students at Sheffield and UCL in linguistics, most often in Critical Discourse Analysis. My research interested also include Stylistics, Cognitive Linguistics, and Philosophy of Language. A full list of my teaching credentials can be found on my CV.
