About Patrisia
My name is Patrisia, I’m 19 years old and currently studying Law at university. I decided to become a tutor because I understand first-hand just how demanding exam preparation can be. Balancing multiple subjects, absorbing large amounts of information and managing the pressure to perform can feel overwhelming, particularly when students are already trying to navigate the expectations placed upon them.
I want my tutoring to provide more than simply academic support. I want my students to feel that they have someone genuinely in their corner — someone they can talk to openly, ask questions without hesitation, and rely on for patient, understanding guidance.
I am naturally outgoing, friendly and approachable, and I believe these qualities are particularly important when tutoring. I want every student to feel comfortable admitting when they do not understand something, knowing that there is absolutely no judgement in my lessons. Everyone learns differently, so I take the time to understand each student's individual needs, identify exactly where they are struggling, and explain difficult concepts in a way that makes sense to them.
Ultimately, I want my students to leave my lessons not only better prepared for their exams, but with a genuine belief in their own ability. I hope to make the journey towards exams feel more manageable, less stressful and far more rewarding, while providing the encouragement and reassurance students need along the way.
For me, some of the most rewarding moments are seeing a student achieve a grade they once thought was completely beyond their capabilities. Knowing that I have played even a small part in helping them reach that point — and seeing how proud it makes both the student and their parents — is exactly why I love tutoring.

My approach to tutoring is centred around developing genuine confidence, critical thinking and a sophisticated understanding of literature, rather than simply teaching students how to memorise model answers. I aim to make English Literature feel both intellectually rewarding and accessible, particularly for students who may initially find certain texts or analytical skills challenging.
I tailor each lesson to the individual student, identifying their strengths and areas for development before building a structured approach around them. My lessons combine close textual analysis, contextual understanding, discussion, essay planning and exam-focused practice. I place particular emphasis on helping students understand why a writer has made a particular choice, rather than simply identifying literary techniques. This allows students to produce more perceptive, conceptual analysis and develop the kind of interpretations required for the highest bands.
I also encourage students to become increasingly independent in their thinking. Rather than providing them with interpretations to reproduce, I challenge them to question characters, themes, authorial intentions and alternative readings. I believe this is especially important at GCSE and A Level, where the strongest responses are those that demonstrate an individual and well-supported argument.
Lessons are typically one hour, although I am happy to adapt the length depending on the student's age, needs and stage of preparation. For students approaching examinations, longer sessions can also be particularly useful for combining teaching with timed essay practice and detailed feedback.
I achieved top grades throughout my GCSE and A Level studies, and I am now studying Law at university, where I am currently achieving a First-class average. My academic experience has given me a particularly strong foundation in constructing persuasive arguments, analysing language with precision and engaging critically with complex ideas — skills that transfer exceptionally well to English Literature.
At GCSE, I am particularly confident teaching Christmas Carol, Inspector Calls and Macbeth, and I have a strong understanding of the requirements for producing top-band responses across these texts.
At A Level, I have experience teaching a range of texts and literary genres, including A Level Gothic Literature. I am particularly passionate about teaching Shakespeare. Although Shakespeare is often one of the most intimidating areas of the English Literature curriculum for students, I believe that with the right approach, his work becomes incredibly fascinating. I enjoy breaking down Shakespeare's language and dramatic choices into manageable ideas, while encouraging students to appreciate the complexity and ambiguity that makes his work so enduring.
My primary students are Years 9–11, particularly GCSE English Literature students who are looking to strengthen their analytical skills, improve their essay writing and work towards the highest possible grades. I am happy to work with students at different starting points — whether they need help building confidence with the fundamentals, consolidating their knowledge of a text, or refining their essays from a strong level towards the very highest grades.
Ultimately, my aim is to make students feel that English Literature is something they can genuinely master, rather than a subject where success depends on memorising endless quotations or interpretations. I want every student to leave a lesson feeling more confident, more intellectually curious and better equipped to articulate their own
