About Maryam

Having worked at Kumon Learning Center for over 5 years now, I have taught and helped students ages 3-18 in Math & Reading at all levels. Teaching was not only a fulfilling job for me in high school, but it also taught me how to learn! This helped me earn both of my high school diplomas (IB & Alberta) and has gotten me through my first 2 years of my Bachelor of Science in Physiology! As I am transferring to the University of Alberta, I would love to take on students that I can help and mentor to keep doing what I love, even away from home.

About the lesson

I am a university science student completing my second year of a Bachelor of Science in Physiology, with a strong academic background in biology, chemistry, math, and academic writing. I completed both the IB Diploma and the Alberta High School Diploma, which has given me extensive experience with rigorous coursework and exam-based learning. I believe that effective learning starts with asking the right questions and building true understanding, not memorization. My lessons are structured, personalized, and focused on helping students feel confident with challenging material. In our first session, I take time to understand your goals, learning style, and study habits so we can create a realistic study plan that fits your schedule. From there, lessons may include reviewing difficult concepts, completing assignments, strengthening problem-solving skills, and preparing for quizzes and exams. While I specialize in science-based subjects, I also support students with math, calculus, and essay writing. I have over 5 years of experience at Kumon Learning Centre, where I have helped students ages 3–18 build strong foundations in math and reading. Whether you’re looking for short-term support before an exam or long-term academic guidance, I’d be happy to help you reach your goals.
