About Erika
While in college I tutored others in multiple math subjects. This is where I found my love of helping others through teaching. After receiving my Bachelors in Business Administration and working 5 years in the finance world I went back to receive my teaching certificate. I have 2 years so far of teaching in a middle school classroom. I am certified to teach 7th-12th grade, but I specialize in pre-algebra and algebra 1.

The whole reason I like to teach math is that I once hated it because I couldn't understand it. I learned how I liked to learn and then with some extra time and effort I came to not only understand math but love it. I like to help my students find how they learn best and adapt to their needs. In math the best was to learn is to make mistakes and practice so I like to show, guide, and then facilitate learning. If a student can show or verbally express their understanding in some way I can tell if they feel confident in their knowledge.
