Hi! I’m Eliza, a college student and experienced writer with a strong background in academic, creative, and professional writing. I’ve written everything from research papers and analytical essays to college application essays, speeches, and creative work, and I genuinely enjoy helping other students find their voice on the page.

As a student myself, I understand how frustrating it can be to stare at a blank document and have no idea where to start—or to know what you want to say but struggle to put it into words. My goal is to make writing feel less overwhelming while teaching practical skills that students can use independently.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is centered on helping students become confident, independent writers rather than simply fixing their essays for them. I work with students to understand what they are trying to say, organize their ideas, strengthen their arguments, and develop a writing style that still sounds like them.

A typical lesson begins by identifying what the student is working on and where they are getting stuck. From there, we might brainstorm ideas, create an outline, work through a difficult paragraph, improve organization and transitions, or revise an existing draft. I explain the reasoning behind my suggestions so students can apply those skills to future assignments, not just the essay in front of them.

What sets me apart is that I understand writing from both sides: I have extensive experience writing academic and application essays myself, while also working with students who may struggle with where to begin or how to turn their ideas into polished writing. I aim to make writing feel manageable rather than intimidating, and I adapt each lesson to the student's individual needs, assignment, and writing level.

My lessons are best suited for middle school, high school, and college students who want help with academic essays, personal statements, college applications, research papers, argumentative writing, or general writing skills. Whether you need help starting from scratch or just want another set of eyes on a nearly finished draft, I can meet you where you are.
