First free hour is to assess where you're at. I'll ask you what you want to do and we'll discuss how you'd like to proceed. It's surprising how much can be achieved in just that first hour! I can help walk you through any challenges you are facing because I have faced and conquered many challenges myself. Let's play!
I have been an artist all my life and was a professional graphic designer for 22 years since graduating from Sheridan College in 1995. I used my illustration skills throughout my career and now use them to create unique abstract art using acrylic paint.
Rates do not depend on student's level. Please give 24 hours notice should you need to reschedule your appointment.
Solving puzzles and helping others is my passion. I am also a designer and artist through and through. With any project, I start with asking questions about what is wanted/needed/dreamed of and work towards going beyond what is called for. I have faced many challenges over the years with little support, so I understand how it can be stressful to not receive the help needed. I get such joy from helping any way I can, and my humour often alleviates any anxiety or stress during challenging moments.
I have been an artist all my life. I went to Sheridan College for Graphic Design and graduated in 1995. From there I had a 22-year long career as a Graphic Designer. In 2017 I decided it was time to move into a new career, that of being an artist and a teacher/coach.

HENRY SCHEIN CANADA, INC., Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario
Graphic Designer, 2006 to 2017
My role, as one of 3 in-house designers was to produce advertisements, flyers, catalogues, eNewsletters, banner ads, and artwork for tradeshows. I extensively used Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, and Acrobat, as well as Microsoft products. In 2011, I was presented with a "Team Schein Award". This award was given to 2 people each year who's efforts as a team player were highly appreciated by colleagues. A true honour!
• A Team Approach and Support to Colleagues. I worked closely with coworkers to finish complex projects, such as a 1,000 page catalogue. Also supported fellow designers by giving advice on using the Adobe products to help them achieve challenges. I also encouraged them to use more complex tools available with newer versions of software to help do projects more easily (which they appreciated greatly).
• Creative Thinking: Needed for creating attractive material, but also to come up with solutions to improve workflow and successfully complete challenging jobs. I was always coming forth with ideas and suggestions when it was needed.
• Attention to Needs: Being a designer requires excellent listening skills. Conversations about projects always started with "what do you need?" and went from there. I was so very honoured when my coworkers nominated me for the “Team Schein Award” for being such a team player.
ONE-ON-ONE TEACHING SESSIONS with CREATIVE GIRLS, Niagara Region, Ontario
I was fortunate to meet 4 super talented girls who were all interested in pursuing art or design as a career. I gave them a taste of what it’s like to be a Graphic Designer and gave them some art challenges. I discontinued the lessons because we were meeting at each other's homes, which became awkward, and scheduling was a challenge. We all very much enjoyed our meetups and I am thrilled to now be available for more sessions.
NIAGARA JAZZ FESTIVAL, Niagara-on-the-Lake and surrounding area
Graphic Designer, 2015
Creating posters and other marketing material for the various events put on by the local organization. Projects were completed in a timely manner over the course of 6 months, during the wee hours of the morning before going to my day job.
Volunteer Coordinator, 2014
I wanted to try a challenging role while giving back to the community. I had the honour of working with almost 100 volunteers as a coordinator during this prestigious event's inaugural year. This involved communicating closely with everyone as well as planning who was to work where. Favourite part was getting to know each person and learning what they loved to do so I could place them where they most wanted be. Best moment was when I repeatedly heard, even several years later, that I was the favourite coordinator of all time. All it took was caring about the volunteers.
