About Carol

Hello! I’m Carol, an experienced Mandarin and Cantonese tutor from Hong Kong with over 15 years of university teaching experience.

I have a Master’s degree in Accounting and Finance and a professional teaching qualification. Throughout my teaching career, I have taught students from different backgrounds and developed a patient, encouraging and student-centred approach.

I offer online lessons in both Mandarin and Cantonese. I can support beginners as well as more advanced learners, and I can tailor lessons to your individual goals, whether you want to improve speaking and pronunciation, build confidence in everyday conversation, develop reading and writing skills, or learn Chinese for study, work or travel.

I particularly enjoy helping learners feel comfortable using Chinese in real-life situations. My lessons are friendly, practical and engaging, with activities adapted to each student’s age, level and learning needs.

As a native Cantonese speaker from Hong Kong with fluent Mandarin, I can also help learners understand the differences between Cantonese and Mandarin, including pronunciation, vocabulary and everyday expressions.

My lessons are structured to make learning Mandarin and Cantonese practical, engaging, and personal to your goals. I adopt an interactive, immersive approach that focuses on real-life conversation, accurate tonal pronunciation, and practical everyday vocabulary. Whether you wish to master Mandarin or Cantonese, every session is adapted to your pace.

Who the lessons are for:
I welcome students of all ages (children, teenagers, and adults) and proficiency levels—from absolute beginners taking their first steps to advanced learners, business Chinese, or travel.

Lesson Structure & Qualifications:

Lesson Duration: Standard lessons are 60 minutes long, with flexible 30-minute or 90-minute sessions available upon request.

Experience & Qualifications: As a qualified dual-language tutor, I draw on extensive teaching experience to help you speak with clarity and confidence right from your first lesson.
