About Kevin

I am a qualified actuary and Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) with over 20 years of industry experience in the UK financial sector. I hold MSc degrees in both Pure Mathematics and Financial Mathematics, giving me a strong academic and practical foundation across mathematics, statistics, finance, and actuarial science.

Alongside my professional career, I have always enjoyed teaching and explaining mathematics in a clear and approachable way. I understand that many students struggle not because they lack ability, but because topics are often taught too abstractly or too quickly. My aim is to break difficult concepts down into simple, manageable steps and help students build genuine understanding and confidence.

I provide support for GCSE, A-Level, university mathematics, statistics, and actuarial exams. In addition to technical knowledge, I also help students develop effective exam technique, including time management, question strategy, revision planning, and how to maximise marks under pressure.

I have also worked as a marker for ActEd, giving me valuable insight into how actuarial exams are assessed and what examiners are looking for in high-scoring answers. This allows me to give students practical guidance on exam technique, common mistakes, and how to structure answers efficiently under timed conditions.

Having spent over two decades working in a demanding professional environment, I bring real-world insight and practical problem-solving skills into my lessons. I am patient, supportive, and focused on helping students achieve measurable progress and long-term success.

About the lesson

My lessons are tailored to each student’s goals, ability level, and learning style. I focus on building strong understanding rather than memorisation, helping students gain confidence and improve problem-solving skills step by step.

I teach Mathematics, Statistics, and Actuarial subjects from GCSE and A-Level through to university level. Whether you need help preparing for exams, understanding difficult concepts, improving grades, or developing stronger analytical skills, lessons are structured to be clear, practical, and engaging.

As someone with an actuarial background, I also show students how maths is applied in real-world situations, making topics more meaningful and easier to understand. I aim to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and working through challenges at their own pace.

Lessons can include:

Help with homework and coursework
Support with statistics and actuarial concepts
Building confidence with quantitative problem solving

My goal is not only to help students achieve strong results, but also to help them become more independent and confident learners.
