About Marianna

My name is Marianna, and I am a native Spanish speaker from Colombia with extensive experience tutoring students of all ages and levels. I hold a degree in International Relations with a minor in Chinese Studies, and my academic training has strengthened my communication skills, cultural understanding, and ability to explain complex concepts clearly and patiently. I have been tutoring for many years in both academic and community settings. My experience includes supporting ESL students, guiding Spanish learners from middle school to university level, and helping adult learners reach goals ranging from professional communication to travel preparation. Working with such diverse students has allowed me to understand different learning styles, adapt my approach, and create lessons that feel personal and effective. Because I have learned multiple languages myself, including English, Mandarin, and French, I truly understand the challenges students face when navigating grammar, pronunciation, and cultural context. This helps me teach with empathy, structure, and clarity. My students describe me as warm, encouraging, and exceptionally thorough, and they appreciate the confidence they gain from each session. I maintain a high standard of professionalism, always coming prepared with organized plans, supplemental materials, and a supportive environment that helps students grow at a comfortable pace. Whether your goal is academic success, conversational fluency, stronger writing skills, or a deeper connection to the Spanish language, I am committed to helping you get there with patience and enthusiasm. I look forward to supporting your learning journey and making Spanish a rewarding and enjoyable part of your life.

About the lesson

As a native Spanish speaker and language learner myself, I understand firsthand that everyone learns a new language differently. My lessons are fully personalized to match each student’s learning style, background, and motivation. I have worked with students who are learning Spanish for school, professionals preparing for workplace communication, adults studying it for personal growth, travelers hoping to speak with confidence, and neurodiverse learners who benefit from a more adaptive and sensory-friendly structure.

A typical lesson begins by revisiting your recent progress and setting a clear learning focus for the day. I then introduce activities designed to keep you engaged while strengthening specific skills. Some students learn best through conversation, so we may practice through mini-stories, real-life dialogues, or role-playing situations like ordering in a café or navigating a trip abroad. Others benefit from visual aids, so I use images, short readings, color-coded grammar breakdowns, and vocabulary maps. For students who enjoy creative or cultural learning, I incorporate Spanish music, movie clips, short podcasts, and storytelling exercises. For analytical learners, I offer structured grammar practice, targeted drills, and step-by-step explanations that build clarity and confidence.

I believe learning a language should feel human and enjoyable, which is why I adapt the lesson pace, materials, and activities to the person in front of me. I have experience supporting students at every level, from true beginners who are learning their first phrases to advanced speakers who want to polish grammar or perfect pronunciation.

All students receive free supplemental resources outside of class. These include personalized vocabulary lists, flashcards, grammar guides, reading passages, song and TV recommendations, and cultural notes that help reinforce what we cover during our sessions.

My goal is to create a warm and encouraging environment where you feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions, and growing at a pace that feels right for you. Whether you learn best through structure, creativity, repetition, immersion, or a mix of all of these, I will tailor each lesson to help you reach your goals with confidence and joy.

I worked with Marianna as my Spanish tutor, and I cannot recommend her enough. I first reached out because I was struggling with grammar and speaking confidence, and from the very first session I felt supported and understood. She took the time to learn how I process information and tailored every lesson to my learning style.

Marianna is the kind of Superprof tutor who makes you feel motivated and comfortable, even when you make mistakes. Her explanations are clear, her lessons are engaging, and she always comes prepared with helpful resources, flashcards, and cultural examples that make Spanish feel alive and enjoyable.

I recommend Marianna wholeheartedly to anyone looking for a patient, knowledgeable, and dedicated tutor. My confidence grew so much because of her, and I always felt she genuinely cared about my progress. Any student would be lucky to learn from her.
