About Serena

Hi, I'm Serena — an online tutor specialising in GCSE Maths and Physics, and A-Level Biology and Chemistry. I achieved A*AA at A-Level and have real experience tutoring students one-to-one, so you're in safe hands.

I create a calm, judgement-free space where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes — because that's exactly how progress happens. Every session is tailored to you, building understanding at a pace that works, with a focus on genuine confidence rather than just getting through the content.

When I'm not tutoring, I'm usually painting, watching films and TV shows, diving into anime, or playing badminton. I also played rugby at county level for two years! I'm a people person at heart and I genuinely enjoy getting to know the students I work with.

About the lesson

My Teaching Approach
I offer personalised, one-to-one online tutoring in GCSE Maths and Physics, and A-Level Biology and Chemistry. My sessions are tailored to each student's individual needs — whether that's building confidence from scratch, filling in gaps, or pushing for top grades.

How I Teach
I believe the best way to truly understand a subject is to work through it step by step, rather than just memorising facts. I start every new student with a short assessment to identify where they're struggling, then build a structured plan around their specific weak spots. I use a mix of clear explanation, worked examples, and plenty of practice questions — the same approach that helped me achieve A*AA at A-Level myself.

Breaking complex topics down into simple, digestible steps
Using visual aids, diagrams and real-world examples to make concepts click
Regular low-pressure quizzes to track progress and build exam confidence
Exam technique coaching — teaching students how to structure answers for maximum marks

Lesson Length & Structure
Sessions typically run for 60 minutes, though 90-minute sessions are available for students who want to cover more ground. Every lesson has a clear focus so students always leave knowing exactly what they've learned and what to work on next.

Who My Lessons Are For
My GCSE sessions are ideal for students aged 14–16 studying Maths Physics Biology and Chemistry, whether they're aiming to pass or targeting a Grade 7+. My A-Level sessions in Biology and Chemistry suit students aged 16–18 who want to deepen their understanding and perform confidently in exams.

Experience & Qualifications
I have hands-on tutoring experience working with students one-to-one, and I achieved A*AA in Psychology, Biology and Chemistry at A-Level — giving me a strong subject knowledge base. I am patient, encouraging, and genuinely passionate about helping students reach their potential.
