About Jack

I Hey there, music lovers! I'm Jack Austin, and I'm here to tell you all about the music lessons I provide.

If you're looking to learn acoustic guitar, electric guitar, or drums, or dive into the world of music technology, you've come to the right place!

I've had a passion for music ever since I was a child. I remember taking lessons at school. As I practiced and practiced I was able to play in the school bands. Since then, I have not stopped!

Recently, I co-founded a record label for musicians. I play with a diverse range of people as a result. I am in a few improvisation bands and love to experiment with everything to improve every session. Learning never stops!

I have previous experience teaching drums and guitar from beginner level to intermediate. Most Importantly, we had a great time in the process. Now they have the ability to play recognizable songs, improvise and connect with people all over the world.

I have also had stints teaching those with special needs music while I was at the YMCA. I found this very special and am open to similar experiences here.

About the lesson

Approach to Tutoring and Teaching Classes:

At the core of my tutoring approach is a belief in making music education enjoyable, engaging, and accessible to students. I strive to create a positive and inspiring learning environment where students feel comfortable expressing themselves and exploring their creativity. Here's an overview of my techniques and teaching methodology:

Practical Application: I emphasize a hands-on approach to learning. From the very beginning, students are encouraged to actively participate and play their instruments. The practical application helps develop muscle memory, improves technique, and enables the student to enjoy playing an instrument.

Learning by Playing: I believe that playing music should be fun and fulfilling. While theory and technical exercises are important, I also incorporate enjoyable songs and exercises into the lessons. This helps students stay motivated, enhances their musicality, and allows them to experience the joy of making music right from the start.

Typical Length of a Lesson:
The length of each lesson will typically be half an hour. They Include, warm-up exercises, skill-building activities, playing songs, addressing any questions or concerns, homework practice and lots of smiles.

Qualifications and Experience:

I have good experience teaching drums and guitar to beginners and intermediate-level students in Surrey. My journey into teaching began when my local church saw me playing in the church band and wanted to learn from me. I gladly accepted the opportunity!

Additionally, I have taught music at the YMCA, where I gained valuable experience in catering to the needs of students with special requirements.

In Cornwall, I have also taught beginner-level music lessons for nursery and primary school students. I have also been playing in tracks when running the record label.

Having studied music in school and earning a Grade A, along with achieving an A in Music Tech A-Level, I possess a solid academic foundation in the field of music. This also means good practice playing drums and guitar in the recordings.
