About Sam

I’m Sam, an experienced pianist, composer, and music producer based in Manchester. I teach piano, music theory, and songwriting to beginners through to advanced players, including adults returning to piano or musicians looking to deepen their understanding.

My background includes live performance, studio production, and composition across modern and alternative styles, with strong foundations in technique and theory. As a pianist, I focus on musicality, rhythm, dynamics, confidence, and developing your own style, not just playing the right notes.

Lessons are supportive, practical, and tailored to your goals. We can work on technique, repertoire, improvisation, songwriting, or theory, depending on what you want to achieve. My aim is to help you progress clearly and enjoy the process while building long-term confidence at the piano.

About the lesson

Lessons are designed around the music you want to play, whether that is jazz standards, classic rock, modern songs, or your own ideas. Technique and theory are always taught through real music so progress feels tangible and motivating.

Lessons are online and usually last around one hour, though this can be adjusted depending on your focus. Evening and weekend slots are available. New students are offered a free 30-minute consultation to discuss goals, experience level, and learning style before starting.

Perfect! Had my first lesson with Sam,I was pleased with how well it went, he was very good patient and we made good progress, looking forward to some practice this week ahead of our next lesson. I wasn’t sure how well it would work on line but it worked well using my phone and iPad.

Sam has taught me for the past few months after I saw a local ad, he's been really helpful in getting my confidence back in piano (which I hadn't played for a few years). When I met him for the first time I shared how I disliked the exam structure so we've avoided that, and instead focused on movie themes which I wanted to learn instead, while giving me a load of new hints and tricks on how to improve.

Would 100% recommend him to anyone looking for similar!
