About David

I am DBS-checked, and recently a graduate of The University of Nottingham Graduate Entry Medical (GEM) programme. I am now a junior doctor training and practising in Manchester, UK. I have a gentle and patient demeanour and approach, whilst keeping my tuition quite flexible and fun. My sessions are a safe environment where making mistakes is fine, and corrections are advised in a constructive manner. I do try to customise tuition to your learning style and strength. A strength of mine is explaining concepts that might be deemed complex in simple, digestible terms. Proudest Achievements I have BA (Hons./summa cum laude), MA and PhD degrees prior to my medical (BM BS) degree. I have been privileged to author and co-author scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals resulting from various projects, and I have also presented at various scientific conferences (See (concealed information) Past Experience I have successfully delivered over 300 hours of high-quality medical science and GAMSAT tuition to satisfied students, in addition to provision of tailored tuition in mathematics and sciences for well over 12 years at various levels — from elementary to A-levels. I have provided tailored tuition in mathematics and sciences for over 15 years at various levels. More recently (over the past 4 years) I have delivered over 450 hours of high-quality tuition in medicine (covering neuroscience, histology, cell biology, embryology, microbiology, immunology, physiology, etc.) and GAMSAT preparation to satisfied medical students and exam candidates respectively. More recently I have decided to only focus on tuition for medical students at all levels. I have successfully tutored a diverse range of clientele -- from candidates from non-science backgrounds to those with advanced science degrees. I have a gentle and patient demeanour and approach, whilst keeping my tuition quite flexible and fun. A strength of mine is explaining concepts that might be deemed complex in simple, digestible terms. Teaching Style My tutoring session utilises a pragmatic, practice-based approach (adapted for medical, GAMSAT, GCSEs, and 11+ exams). The method emphasises the use of numerous practice questions, and using those questions as a springboard to achieve 3 main objectives: 1. to elicit areas of weakness in need of strengthening (e.g., pattern recognition, speed reading, inductive & deductive reasoning or logic, mathematical manipulations and projections); 2. to efficiently explain time-tested medical exams, GAMSAT (or GCSE/11+) tips and principles using concrete questions rather than in abstract form; and 3. to accustom the student’s body and brain to the rigours, challenges, and demands of medical/GAMSAT/GCSE/11+ exams, enabling the candidate to develop necessary endurance, mental focus, and discipline. You will quickly notice (if you haven’t already) that each practice question and test you attempt will boost your confidence and increase competence.

Perfect! David is an excellent tutor. He is extremely dedicated and genuinely wants the best for his students. David has made difficult topics, simple to understand, to a point where I am more comfortable answering questions. As a result of this I have become more confident especially in the Physics area of section 3. Perfect! I have been struggling with my S3 on GAMSAT and decided to acquire a tutor after not getting the right grades twice. As a colleague of David in Graduate Entry Medicine at the University of Nottingham, I have had the pleasure to work alongside David since September 2019. He has significant teaching history, and this was portrayed during our Problem-Based-Learning (PBL) sessions where we had a topic to our peers on a weekly basis. He tailored his teaching approach to suit his team in a way where he would discuss the fundamentals of a difficult concept and slowly add the details. He has always done this successfully and efficiently and I must say I have learnt quite a lot of challenging medical concepts that have helped me with exams.

Fortunately, I was on David’s PBL team both before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. During this time, he had effortlessly adapted his teaching style from in-person to online, he kept us engaged and inspired us to maintain the same standards of work ethic.

Moreover, I had the pleasure to work with David in Clinical Skills (the practical approach of Medicine).
