About Jeanie

’m a kind, caring and patient teacher who genuinely enjoys helping students discover that Math doesn’t have to be difficult or scary.

I became a teacher because I wanted to help learners understand Math, build confidence and hopefully learn to love it along the way. I believe that every student can learn Math when it is explained in a way that makes sense to them.

Sometimes Math can feel confusing because we are given too many steps, complicated words or methods that don't make sense. That’s where I come in! I like to use simple, practical and easy-to-understand approaches to break Math down into manageable pieces.

My philosophy is KISS – Keep It Stupid Simple!

I want you to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and saying, “I don't understand.” There is no judgment in my lessons. We simply go back, look at the problem differently and find an explanation that works for you.

My biggest goal is not just to help you get the right answer. I want you to leave each lesson thinking:

“Oh! Now I understand!”

Seeing a student’s confidence grow and watching something that once seemed impossible finally click is one of my favorite parts of teaching.

About the lesson

My goal is to make Maths simpler, clearer and easier to understand. If you have ever looked at a Maths question and thought, “I have no idea where to even start!”, you are not alone!

In my lessons, we will use the KISS method – Keep It Stupid Simple! We will break difficult problems into smaller, manageable steps so that you can understand why you are doing something, not just memorise a formula.

Each lesson will be structured around you and what you need help with. We will:

Identify the areas you are finding difficult.
Break complicated concepts into simple steps.
Use easier-to-understand explanations and examples.
Work through questions together before you try them independently.
Practise different types of questions so you know how to approach them.
Identify mistakes and understand how to fix them.
Build your confidence so you can tackle questions on your own.
Prepare specifically for tests, exams and NCEA assessments when needed.

I won't just give you the answer. I'll show you how to think through the problem and give you strategies you can use again and again.

Whether you are struggling with the basics, trying to improve your grades, preparing for an assessment, or aiming for Excellence, my aim is to help you go from “I don't get Maths” to “I know how to do this!”
