About Malindi

I am a songwriter, topliner and lyricist with more than five years of experience. I am a songwriting mentor for ATKV-Crescendo, a program designed to equip and empower upcoming Afrikaans songwriters. My mentors are platinum hit songwriters from all over the world, such as Martin Sutton, Paddy Byrne, Rob Wells and more, and I am currently in collaborations with writers from Canada, the US, the UK and more. I have learned and continue to learn from them, and consider it an honour to share my knowledge with upcoming South African writers.

About the lesson

My lessons are for everyone, no matter what your skill level or experience.

For those who have never written a song in their life, I offer a complete beginners guide to rhythm, lyrical and melodic devices and basic music theory for songwriters. Learn how to dissect your favourite songs and why you love them, then write a song that other people will love!

For beginner songwriters who come to me with a few ideas, concepts or rough drafts, I offer guidance and foolproof songwriting and crafting methodology. We will analyse successful songs written in your style of choice together, learn from them and apply the same principles to your work.

For more advanced songwriters with completed songs who just need a mentor and soundboard, I offer song appraisals and, on request, collaborations on your songs to help take them to the next level.

When doing a song appraisal, I will analyse your song and make recommendations on how you can improve it.

No matter what level you're at, together we will explore and find your spot in the the world of songwriting.
