About Giacomo Satoru

1) WHO I AM
I am passionate about sound synthesis, audio/video editing, teaching, and pedagogy. I enjoy analyzing things in depth and developing strategies aimed at achieving a predetermined goal.

2) QUALIFICATIONS
In 2020, I earned a first-level degree in Electronic Music, specializing in Composition, from the Saint Louis College of Music in Rome, graduating with honors and a final grade of 110/110 cum laude.

3) PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES
Since 2020, I have been teaching at the Saint Louis College of Music, where I am responsible for:

- Training students enrolled in the pre-academic Sound Engineering and Electronic Music course, teaching them how modular and compact synthesizers work, sampling synthesis, the MIDI protocol, and the basics of Cubase.

- Teaching sound synthesis and the operation of modular synthesizers to instrumentalists and singers attending their second academic year.

In addition to my regular teaching activities, I have participated in Erasmus+ initiatives as a teacher, during which I had the opportunity to learn from educational methodologies used abroad in Georgia, Turkey, Spain, Norway, Estonia, and Lithuania.

1) OVERVIEW
The aim is to enable students to achieve the sound they are looking for in their music productions and/or sound design projects, whether in the studio or in live-performance settings.

This will be achieved by studying:

- The nature of sound
- The processors used to generate and modify it
- The techniques used in studio-based music production and live performance

The exercises assigned (optional) receive written feedback, a private video correction, and progress tracking.

For further information, please see point 5 (FEEDBACK).

2) TARGET AUDIENCE
The lessons are open to students of all levels: both those who already have some knowledge and wish to strengthen their skills, and those starting completely from scratch.

3) EQUIPMENT
The course can be followed entirely using free software.

The software used includes:
- Modular synthesizers: Voltage Modular or VCV Rack 2
- Compact synthesizers: Vital

However, students who wish to do so may also use any paid software they already own.

4) EXERCISES
At the end of each lesson, I assign exercises to enable students to practise independently as well as during the lessons.

These exercises are not mandatory, but they are strongly recommended for proper artistic and professional development.

5) FEEDBACK
For each completed exercise, the student receives:

- Detailed written feedback in an online Word document
- A private YouTube video in which I demonstrate and explain any necessary corrections
- An Excel chart tracking their progress over time

Please note: Feedback on completed exercises is included in the fee, with no additional costs.

At the bottom of the advertisement, I have attached an example of a private YouTube video in which I provide feedback on a student’s exercise. The student kindly granted me permission to share it on this platform.
