About David
I am a teacher who has a master's degree in Education, and a background in pure & applied sciences. I have been teaching for over 10 years and I work with speakers from a diversity of cultural and linguistic backgrounds, who are looking to develop advanced English language skills. I teach reading comprehension, writing skills, communication techniques, and critical analysis - all competencies that are transferable to the college classroom. I am also formally trained in the prominent language exams, including the Canadian Government Comprehension Exam, TOEFL, TOEIC, Cambridge, and IELTS tests.
Aside from working with professionals in the fields of media, government, engineering, and law, I have also worked closely with CEGEP students. These sessions included designing and implementing learning activities geared towards the development of a target introductory skill set, and preparing students for entrance and language exams.
My academic training and teaching to date has covered a broad range of methods and materials within education. I am currently completing a Masters of Education at Concordia University (thesis submission pending), and hold an undergraduate degree in Environment and Development from McGill University. My ESL qualifications include a TEFL certification completed in 2009, and the CEWP certification issued by the Canada School of Public Service in 2016.
Coming from a family of teachers, I have cultivated a keen interest in teaching for the past decade and have developed my professional practice in a number of international contexts, from a refugee camp in Uganda to a high school classroom in Taiwan.
