About Gayle

I worked in the WS/FC Schools in N.C. for 34 years. After retiring, I moved with my military family first to Florida and then to Virginia. After 8 years, we have once again returned to our North Carolina home. I taught 3 years in Florida public schools and then 5 years in Virginia.

My teaching career has been very full-filling and I am now looking forward to retirement. After a lifetime of teaching students to read, I am hoping to continue to do so with my tutoring.

About the lesson

I am a retired elementary & special education teacher. My experience and expertise is in the reading area. My degree is a Masters level in elementary education.

I enjoy helping children not only to succeed in reading but to understand the joy of learning. Reading should be enjoyable and not a task. I excel in helping children to learn to enjoy the process of reading.

My lessons are a blend of sight word and phonics (or visual and sound) learning. Students scores in reading are usually low due to poor comprehension. With visual and sound tools, a student can read with more fluency which in turn assists in their comprehension of what they are reading.
