I base my classes on the individual needs and I approach a subject with structure and flexibility.
My teaching philosophy emphasizes differentiated approaches that make learning exciting through relevant materials and contexts based on children's individual interests and abilities. My literacy and math programs are successful because they are based on your child's strengths, which are used in developing strategies for overcoming their challenges.
I approach a subject by finding a students stengths and weaknesses. I give customized and applicable strategies for all assignments and will do my best to ensure success. Everyone learns differently and in order to achieve success you must recognize what your strengths and weaknesses are and utilize them appropriately.
My instructional methods are based on the same ABA (Applied Behavioural Analysis) techniques used in the classroom, depending on the needs of the student. Due to my work experience, I have a number of colleagues and resources to draw upon after an initial assessment of the students needs, in order to best serve them.
I have to consider the genre of learners I coach to know whether teaching or facilitating is the better option for them. I humble myself to enable the special-need learners learn from me through a participatory method of teaching.
My teaching method uses a student centered approach. I prefer to assess comprehension through discussion and projects. This allows students the opportunity to ask questions and "think bigger" in a way that allows them retain as much information as possible.
I work with students to see what their strengths and weaknesses are and I like to work with each student on an individual case by case basis as each student learns differently. I enjoy getting to know students likes and work them into my classes.
Through the extensive experience which I have gained from tutoring in both a job and volunteer aspect, I am able to effectively encourage and coach a student through their learning process. I also have excellent resources and strategies for teaching which I have acquired and adapted throughout my years of tutoring.
I believe that everyone has different level of understanding, and I try to come down to each person level to help them understand me
I am a very patient teacher and I like reading and helping others to read.
I approach helping kids differently depending on their needs.
I practice face-to-face, one-on-one tutoring. My first goal is to get to know my students in order to gain an understanding of their needs, and my lessons will be structured depending on these needs. I believe that anyone can learn when they are interested in what they are learning, so I tailor my lessons to use subjects/analogies that incorporate things in which they are interested.
As I most enjoy working with K-3 students I use a method that employs learning segments. I find that attention span is not great and in order to maximize my time with students a one-on-one approach is best as I find when students are fully engaged and excited I'm guaranteed that maximum learning potential is being reached.
I would teach from where the student is at. I would vary my teaching methods according to the way the student learns best. I have a lot of patience. And like to brainstorm ideas. I can adapt. Cooperative success would be my goal.
I am a firm believer in meeting the student and their guardians at their level. Therefore, I initially get to know the student and how their school day looks like. I ask about what subjects they need assistance with, what areas they find harder than others etc. From there I try to work out a system of assistance that best suits the student.
I have learned over the years that every child is different and there is no 'right' way to tutor. A special plan needs to be developed based on the child. Although teaching online is different than working together in person, success is always the goal.
I believe that each and every child can learn no matter what the challenge! This happens through a safe and fun environment where each child feels that he/she can take risks and achieve each goal! Therefore, I ensure that each program is catered to the individual needs of each child! This way, he/she can get excited about learning because the program is geared to his/her level!
My classes favour careful study of texts that promote critical thinking skills through thoughtful discussion in combination with in class writing practice and homework that prepares students for higher level thinking and writing. Middle school students get what they need to excel in SSAT exams while high school students learn the skills to excel in writing university level academic essays.
I have a University degree with a specialization in Reading. I live in James Bay and teach at all levels. I teach reading mostly using the Phonics method. However, I do incorporate the Whole Language program which gives more artistic license.
I usually base my classes/sessions on what the child needs help with the most . My classes will always attend to the work or areas that need the most attention. Each class will depend on the child and his/her's needs.
I am very flexible and not adverse to using a variety of methods to meet the needs of every student. Enthusiasm and fun are the top two examples. A whole language approach with phonetics thrown in as a start. Selecting specific reading material to match the child's interests and reading level.
My lessons are structured, cumulative and multi-sensory. I follow the Alpha to Omega program to support children with LDs, however, my lessons are customized to the individual needs of each student. I identify the students' learning style(s) and teach them in a way that is best suited to their needs.
Every student has a unique way of grasping new knowledge. As a private tutor, it is important for me to first learn how you learn. Finally, patience and looking at the subject at hand from a different perspective are the key to comprehension.
I use research-based strategies for learning and tailor my instruction to each student's needs and learning style. I like to get to know what you excel in and what you struggle with, what type of learner are you (visual, verbal, kinesthetic, logical?), if you are a minor I like to speak with the parent and the child on what areas we should focus on.
My Teaching methods are very simple, Everyone in the classroom is a learner, no one is better than someone else. I instruct lessons in a very straight forward fashion, and try to make the learning as easy as possible. I believe my style of instructing is different because I don't talk down or disrespect anyone who wants to learn.
I can teach my student/s the right way starting with the basic letter names and sounds. I usually teach young minds especially when they're not in the mood to study through playing, without knowing, they are already learning.
My teaching style is firstly to connect with students and see where their interests lie. My classes are 3 parts: mini lecture for 10-15min, hands on activity for 10-15 min and evaluation of students grasp of concept.
I believe that the classroom should be extremely flexible. However, students also need to understand and follow the expectations that I put in place. Every student learns diffferently so adaptation is crucial.
I like to teach to my students needs. It is important to me to know my students well enough to develop my lessons to best suit them. I have much experience teaching students of all abilities and am very capable of designing lesson plans to suit the needs of all.
My teaching methods vary depending on the child. Every child is unique and therefore learns uniquely. I feel as though it is important to first get to know your pupil, and then decide on a plan to ensure progress and success.
