About Rachel
I am an experienced trumpeter, performing in classical, jazz, and baroque ensembles. I studied Music up to A Level and maintained an active performing life at university, where I received coaching from celebrated professional trumpeters and conductors. My professional background is in arts administration, where I worked to improve student access to musical performance opportunities, in the knowledge that music offers so many wellbeing benefits.
I am motivated to teach Music Theory as I know first-hand how a good theoretical grounding can enrich your musical life, be it increasing your appreciation as a listener, improving your performances, or enabling you to access a wider range of musical styles and creative outlets through composition, production, and arranging.

I primarily teach to the syllabus to help students through their Grade 5 theory exams. My approach also seeks to offer students a broader understanding of music theory and instil an enthusiasm for its principles which will help take them further to enhance their performance, composition, and GCSE studies.
