About Jack

When people hear I took Calculus II and Organic Chemistry before graduating high school, they assume I might be a STEM only kind of guy, but I've also tutored ACT English and the dreaded ACT Reading section (which I earned a perfect score in and love teaching people how to do the same).

My teaching method forms a working knowlegde of a subject's theory, largely by having the student use it to complete their homework. By applying rather than memorizing, students are more comfortable solving problems and recalling concepts for tests.

My favorite part about every subject I tutor is helping people who don't think they "are a ____ person" see that anyone can learn the principles behind anything when someone takes the time to help them understand.

Beyond the college sophomore level Organic Chemistry course I completed and the 36 supercomposite and 35 raw composite ACT scores I earned, I have had 8 years of experience teaching and mentoring youth in my time as a member and as an Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America.

About the lesson

Usually, I have new students show me their last few tests, quizzes, and the corresponding homework as well as whatever they used to complete it (textbook pages, notes, online resources, etc.).

By having the student gather this together, I can asses their current study process and find ways to improve that in addition to seeing which concepts they need help with.
