About Marcus

I played basketball from 4th grade until college. I have always loved the game and believe it is the best sport. When I started coaching pre covid, I noticed most coaches never played school or college basketball and was not teaching good techniques or building the kids skills. I focus on correct techniques while building skills to play any level of basketball from backyard to college.

I love watching players grow and know that I made a difference in that players game and hopefully life. I decided to start doing lessons after seeing first hand how other coaches and programs are not teaching the basics correctly or knows how to teach the techniques that will make a player good that ends up hurting a player in the long run. Once you learn a bad habit, it is HARD to break a few years later.

I started because of the poor technique and bad habits so many "coaches" and "parents" have taught players that will hurt them in the future if they decide to player at higher levels. (High school, college) Once players shoot a certain way, it is VERY difficult for them to change that or a part of their shot. I also decided to teach because I LOVE the sport and want to give back to the younger kids/generations that are future players

I played basketball in elementary school, middle school, high school and college. I had 7 basketball scholarships. I have also coached a couple years for upward before covid and decided to start coaching again next season. Text for more info. (concealed information)

About the lesson

I 1st like to evaluate each player. I look for their strengths and weaknesses as well as form. Form and basics being perfected is what makes a good player a great player. After this process I then focus on their weaknesses to build up while using their strengths and weaknesses to their advantage as a player to make them a true well rounded player. If a parent or player just wants to focus on something specific from the 1st day and the only reason to hire me, I will accommodate that only.

I have worked with older elementary kids, middle school kids and have worked with a high school kid. Also coached upward basketball.

Make sure you are learning from someone truly experienced and not someone that is a parent that decided to coach his kids team and now wants to teach. This is what leads to poor technique and bad habits. Also make sure you make clear what your goals are for lessons.
