About Tatiyana
I have degrees in both biology and psychology which makes me more equiped to understand how you learn and how to best tailor my approach to suit your needs.
I'm currently in my first semester of medical school, so I have a ton of info thrown at me daily. The secret of any science course, whether it's high school bio 101 or Metabolism and Nutrition in medical school, is to focus and hone in on your natural ability to learn and to make adjustments as needed to maximize your learning.
I love the "aha!" moments that students get when something just clicks. It's like learning how to open up a dam and having all of that information you tried so hard to learn before come flooding in because now it makes so much more sens!
I have years of experience tutoring or as a teaching assistant. I've worked for the University of North Carolina as well as TutorTime in Charlotte NC. I've been a teaching assistant for chemistry and biology 1 and 2 for undergrads as well as helping to tutor some friends or lead study groups.
I have a Bachelor's of science degree in both biology and psychology. I have worked with children ranging from 5th grade all the up to my underclassman here in medical school. I have worked as a professional tutor with TutorTime, a teaching assistant for general chemistry I and II, and I've worked with the Girl Scouts to help them in their science workshops.
I have taken extensive courses in the science field as well as several courses on learning and development of the human brain. I feel that my skill set could definitely help you out!

I usually like to start off with a phone call to see what the student would like to work on. Some students need a quick fix for an upcoming test, some would like me to help them ace a course, others need overall help figuring out how to study for the course load they currently have, no matter the objective I can help!
I like to cover the following in the phone consult:
-What you need help with
-The subject you're covering
-A study plan for you and how you will need to prepare for our sessions or what we will be doing for the session.
I've worked with 5th grade students on improving their reading and writing skills, high school students on physics, biology, anatomy, chemistry, and college students with all of the science courses.
Make sure you choose someone who is going to work with you and how you learn, not just spit information back at you hoping it sticks.
I love Pi day at my old college! We would get to pie our favorite (or least favorite) professors in the face. Our physics professor loved it because he would make us answer a question in order to pi him...and they were hard questions. It was both educational and hilarious!
